About Veterinary Acupuncture Treatment
What to Expect
Initial acupuncture appointments will last up to 60 minutes.
During the initial appointment a full clinical history will be taken and a full physical examination of the animal will be carried out.
An acupuncture treatment plan will then be discussed and needle placement will be carried out. Needles will remain in place for between 10 and 20 minutes depending on the animal and the condition being treated.
After treatment has been completed a follow up treatment plan will be discussed.
Further appointments should last between 30 and 45 minutes and will vary depending on the condition being treated and the animal itself.

Treatment Protocols
Every pet will have a treatment plan tailored to their individual needs.
On average, 4-6 treatments are required to start with, but acupuncture can be continued long term.
Individual animals may require more or less frequent treatments, but as a general rule, these are given weekly initially with gradually increasing intervals, until the desired effect is achieved.
The frequency of treatments depends on the individual animal’s needs, but often top-ups are required to maintain the therapeutic effect in the long term.
